To Venus and Mars
(1979)

To Venus and Mars someday a brave man will go,
A man who can bear to be launched up somewhere
And leave us below.

But deep in the sky
He will lose sight of the earth by and by,
And I know as he misses the glow he will sigh,

"Oh, let me return, someday return to the place,
The smoke-covered world all in blue, mother-pearled,
In deep outer space.

And under the stars to hear the sound of electric guitars
And serenely I'll gaze upon Venus and Mars."
